Information About National Investigation Agency

The National Investigation Agency is India’s primary counter-terrorist task force. The agency has been empowered to deal with the investigation of terrorism-related offenses in the states without special permission from the states under a written proclamation of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

It came into existence on 31 December 2008 with the enactment of the National Investigation Agency Act 2008 by the Parliament of India, which was passed after the deadly 26/11 terrorist attack in Mumbai.
